Geoff Cohen

Managing Director

Geoff is a senior finance executive with broad experience in both M&A and the wealth management industry.

Geoff joined Flagstaff Partners in 2012 and has over 19 years’ investment banking experience. Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners he was Managing Director, Investments and Insurance at ANZ, with responsibility for a number of activities including financial planning, ANZ Trustees, online broking, investment lending, and the development of innovative wealth product for the mass market.

 


Kent Greig

Kent Greig has over 25 years of investment banking experience, predominantly as a specialist in M&A. Kent joined Flagstaff Partners in 2009 from Credit Suisse, where he was a Director and the head of the Australian M&A Group as well as leading coverage of the retail sector. Prior to Credit Suisse, Kent was an Associate Director at Macquarie Bank in the Investment Banking Group, based in Melbourne, Sydney and Seoul.

 


Steve Hammerton

Steve Hammerton has over 20 years of investment banking and corporate finance experience in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Steve has advised on a variety of commercial negotiations, M&A and capital raising transactions for corporate, government and financial sponsor clients, in both private and public market transactions.  Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners, Steve was a Director with Merrill Lynch in Melbourne and London.

 


Michel Mamet

Managing Director

Michel joined Flagstaff Partners in 2009 and has over 20 years of experience in investment banking in Australia and the U.S.. Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners, Michel was with UBS and Morgan Stanley, initially in Melbourne as part of the resources and energy group and subsequently in Dallas, Houston and New York.

 


William Ullmer

William Ullmer

Managing Director

William Ullmer has over 15 years investment banking experience having worked in Melbourne, Sydney, New York and London. Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners in 2021, William was a Managing Director at Perella Weinberg in New York, where he focused on S&P 500 clients primarily in the general industrials sector, and managed Perella Weinberg’s Japanese cross-border activities with alliance partner Mizuho. Before joining Perella Weinberg in 2013, William worked at Gresham Partners in Australia, having started his career as a graduate analyst at UBS in 2006.

 


Fiodor Balai

Executive Director

Fiodor Balai has over 10 years of corporate finance advisory experience across M&A and debt / equity capital markets. Fiodor re-joined Flagstaff Partnersin 2021 from Goldman Sachs where he was an Executive Director in the Melbourne Natural Resources team, specialising primarily in infrastructure, oil & gas and energy. Previously Fiodor was at Flagstaff Partners for 4 years between 2014 and 2018 and covered clients across a variety of sectors including infrastructure, oil & gas, energy, resources and general industrials. Before joining Flagstaff Partners Fiodor was a Manager in EY’s Valuations and Business Modelling team in Melbourne.

 


Nicholas Bordignon

Executive Director

Nicholas Bordignon has over 15 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking in Australia and the United States. Nick has deep M&A, capital markets, and strategic advisory experience across a range of sectors and geographies.

Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners, Nick worked at Greenhill & Co. (both in Melbourne and New York), Caliburn Partnership, and Rothschild.  

 


Edmond Chan

Edmond Chan has 17 years of investment banking and principal investment experience. Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners in 2016, Edmond worked at J.P. Morgan and Citi across Australia and Europe, and was also principal and director of a boutique Australian based fund manager. Edmond has advised on a variety of public market and private treaty M&A transactions and capital raisings across a broad range of sectors including gaming, financial services, healthcare, general industrials, consumer and infrastructure.

 


Karan Chopra

Executive Director

Karan Chopra joined Flagstaff Partners in 2018 and has over 10 years of investment banking and corporate finance experience. Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners, Karan worked at J.P. Morgan for 10 years covering clients across natural resources, infrastructure, mining services and general industrial sectors. Karan has worked on a broad range of transactions including M&A, secondary equity offerings, high yield and investment grade bond offerings and joint venture structuring.

 


Vivienne Petroff

Executive Director

Viv Petroff has over nine years of investment banking, corporate advisory and commercial finance experience. She was previously at Flagstaff Partners for three and a half years between 2012 and 2016 and re-joined the firm in 2018, having spent 18 months at REA Group (realestate.com.au). During her time at REA Group, Viv worked on a range of strategic and M&A projects in the Office of the CEO, and also gained experience in the commercial finance team. Prior to joining Flagstaff Partners in 2012, Viv was an investment banking analyst at Deutsche Bank in the industrials and financial sponsors team.

 


David Fidge

David Fidge joined Flagstaff Partners in 2014. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce (with Honours) from the University of Melbourne.

Notable transactions and assignments include advising Jemena and Veolia on the sale of respective financial interests in the Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme, Mercury on the sale of its smart meter business (NZ$270m), Sime Darby of the acquisition of Heavy Maintenance Group ($58m), the Victorian Government on the concession for Land Use Victoria ($2.86bn), John Swire & Sons on the sale of Alex Fraser Group, Australian Unity on the sale of GU Health ($156m), the Victorian Government on the Port of Melbourne lease transaction ($9.6bn), the Northern Territory Government in relation to the long term lease of the Port of Darwin ($506m) and Transfield Services on takeover offers from Ferrovial and various greenfield PBSA transactions.

Edward Cowan joined Flagstaff Partners in 2016 and has over 4 years of corporate advisory experience advising on M&A and strategic initiatives. Prior to Flagstaff Partners, Edward worked in the mergers and acquisitions teams of KPMG and PPB Advisory in Melbourne.

Edward holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Statistics) from Monash University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Alex Holdsworth joined Flagstaff Partners in 2016. 

Notable transactions and assignments include the IPO of New Zealand's Napier Port ($234m), Mineral Deposits takeover defence of a hostile offer by ERAMET S.A. ($632m), Norman Disney & Young’s acquisition by Tetra Tech, sale of Qscan Radiology and formation of a new radiology joint venture ($200m), Alumina Ltd.’s amendments to AWAC Joint Venture and the Port of Melbourne Lease Transaction for the Victorian Government ($9.7bn).

Alex holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) from Monash University.

Vincent Chan joined Flagstaff Partners in 2017.  

Notable transactions and assignments include advising Energy Resources of Australia on its $476 million pro rata renounceable entitlement offer, the Kin Group in relation to its on-market takeover offer for The Reject Shop, ANZ Bank on the sale of its life insurance business in New Zealand to Cigna Corporation for NZ$700 million, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises on its acquisition of Hallo Pizza in Germany for €32 million, and CSL on ratings advice.

Vincent holds a Bachelor of Commerce (with Honours) from the University of Melbourne.

Prior to Flagstaff Partners, Sid worked in the M&A Advisory and M&A Transaction Services teams at Deloitte in Melbourne and contributed towards M&A transactions in the consumer, automotive, industrials and infrastructure industries.
