Steve Hammerton

Steve Hammerton has over 25+ years of investment banking and corporate finance experience across Australia, New Zealand and Europe.  Prior to Flagstaff Partners, Steve was a Director with Merrill Lynch in Melbourne & London

Steve has advised major corporate, public sector and financial sponsor clients providing corporate finance, M&A, capital structure and strategic advice. Major transactions and roles include advising New Zealand’s Auckland Council on the strategic review of the Port of Auckland and its NZ$836m sell down of Auckland International Airport, the $3bn IPO of PEXA Group, the restructure of the $11bn Victorian Government Melbourne Metro project, the NZ$520m IPO of New Zealand’s Napier Port and the A$500m lease of the Port of Darwin.

Steven also advised engineering consultancy GHD on its 2014 merger with Canada’s Conestoga-Rovers & Associates, the sale of Norman Disney & Young to Tetra Tech and provided corporate finance advice to Australian urban planning consultancy, Urbis.  In the healthcare sector Steven has advised global biotech leader CSL on asset sales, ratings and corporate finance advice, Ramsay Health Care on its UK acquisitions, and Eczacibasi on its sale to Zentiva

Since 2014 Steve has been a non-executive member of GHD’s Board Finance Committee and is a Director on the Board of Trustees for the Brian M Davis Charitable Foundation in aid of disadvantaged children. Steve holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from Monash University, is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CAANZ) and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA)
